Call for Volunteers Invisible Borders Trans-African Project
2026 and Beyond
Volunteer with Us
Invisible Borders works with volunteers as part of its methodology of collective and collaborative practice. As such, all administrative roles within the organisation are volunteer positions.
Invisible Borders invites volunteers to support the unfolding of its work in 2026 and beyond, with particular attention to the 11th edition of the Trans-African Road Trip: Marrakesh – Lagos 2026.
This is an invitation to contribute to a long-term artistic and research project through coordination, research, communication, documentation, logistics, and other forms of support.
This call is for individuals who would like to support the work of Invisible Borders as it prepares for the 11th edition of the Trans-African Road Trip and continues its wider artistic, research, and organisational activities.
Yes. Please note that all volunteer roles require a minimum commitment of 12 months. This helps ensure continuity, trust, and a meaningful contribution to the unfolding work of Invisible Borders.
Volunteer roles may involve logistics, coordination, correspondence, research, documentation, archiving, communications, digital platforms, fundraising support, and other forms of project assistance depending on need and capacity.
This call is open to people who feel aligned with the spirit of Invisible Borders and can offer time, care, initiative, and seriousness in support of the project.
Volunteers work remotely. All we ask is that you are equipped with a laptop, a mobile device, and able to ensure consistent connection and availability. In certain cases, volunteers may also work in person, depending on the specific needs of the project.
The structure is part-time and flexible, but it requires consistency, reliability, and the ability to stay in communication with the team.
Applications will be reviewed by the team, and shortlisted applicants may be contacted for a conversation or next steps depending on the needs of the project.
Yes. Selected volunteers may be asked to review and sign a volunteer agreement before beginning their role.
Yes. Volunteers may come into contact with internal communications, documents, project information, or other non-public materials. Discretion, care, and respect for confidentiality are essential.
To volunteer with Invisible Borders is to enter a living field of artistic, cultural, and organisational work shaped by movement, relation, collaboration, and the ongoing humanisation of borders. We also provide recommendations and referrals for volunteers who have meaningfully contributed to the work. University interns are also welcome to apply.
